This first post is less about launching a website and more about finally taking the first visible step toward something I have been quietly growing for a long time. Today—well, tonight—is the night I want to go live, or whatever you call it when you finally launch a website.
Is it for the whole world right away? Not necessarily. Eventually, I hope this becomes a place where I can share propagations, plant projects, and other passions with people who are drawn here by those same interests. But really, this is what makes me smile: having a place to share my thoughts and document where I have been, where I am now, and where this journey might go.
The last couple of days have been crazy, and part of me thought I had too much going on, almost convincing myself that it would be okay to postpone the launch. But if you are anything like me, postponing can become the smoothest form of procrastination.
As I sat down to write my first blog post, I looked at my alocasias and the cups and cups of corms I am waiting to sprout, and I started thinking about beginnings. A corm is like a seed: it carries energy from the parent plant, and when it is ready, it uses that nourishment to establish itself and become something new. This website feels like that kind of beginning.
I have spent so much time looking out at the horizon, dreaming about what could be without knowing the exact path forward. Today, I find myself looking at the horizon and realizing this is where the first real step begins.
Maybe you are thinking, “Okay, this is just a website where you are eventually selling your props.” But to me, it is more than that. It is a beginning. When I close my eyes and let myself imagine it with unbridled optimism, I see it becoming something bigger: a place that grows into my true Grove.
So often, we settle into familiar routines and forget to ask whether they still fit who we are becoming. I am challenging myself—and maybe you, too—to ask: if the sky were the limit, and if there were a world where you could feel truly in your element, what would that look like? How would you feel? What small step could you take toward it? And finally, why not take it?
I have spent much of my life safely looking toward the horizon, staying within the boundaries that felt comfortable at the time, and this is my small step toward what I know could be. Maybe I will sell a few plants. Maybe I will connect with others who also want to grow into their true potential. Maybe this will simply become a record of my inner thoughts, something I can look back on one day to see where I began and where I went. Whatever it becomes, I know this is a small beginning, and I hope it encourages you to start toward whatever is waiting for you, too.
